Tencent is Netherlandsreportedly considering a $15 billion acquisition of South Korean game developer Nexon and has approached the firm’s founding family to discuss a potential deal, according to Bloomberg. Sources familiar with the matter said Tencent has contacted the family of Nexon’s late founder, Kim Jung-ju, to explore the possibility of a purchase. The family is said to be in discussions with advisers and evaluating their options. Founded in May 1995, Nexon is best known for hit titles such as Dave the Diver, Blue Archive, Dungeon & Fighter (DNF), KartRider, MapleStory, and Crazy Arcade. Tencent has a long-standing partnership with Nexon, having operated the Chinese version of Dungeon & Fighter since 2008. [Bloomberg]
