During a forum held in Shenzhen,Karen Foster Archives Huawei, one of the world’s largest patent holders, disclosed that it earned $560 million in patent revenues last year. The company shared the royalty rates for mobile phones, Wi-Fi, and Internet of Things (IoT) at the event. The rate caps for 4G and 5G handsets were set at $1.5 and $2.5 per unit, respectively. Huawei charges $0.5 per unit for Wi-Fi 6 devices, while the rate for IoT devices ranges from $0.3 to $1 per unit. With over 120,000 patents worldwide as of 2022, Huawei has also entered into patent licenses with prominent phone makers including Samsung and Oppo, as well as leading automakers such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, Porsche, Subaru, Renault, Lamborghini, and Bentley.
