The news came courtesy of Mr. Johnson himself (William Stanford Davis), speaking to members of the Television Critics Association (TCA) at their winter press tour. According to a press release from ABC, Abbott Elementary was the network's top-ranked multi-platform series last season. Series creator Quinta Brunson also took home the award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series at the 2024 Emmys, the first Black woman to do so since The Jeffersons'Isabel Sanford in 1981.

Abbott Elementary airs every Wednesday at 9:00 p.m. ET on ABC, with new episodes streaming on Hulu the next day.
